Sorry this is late but there was a glitch and this wasn’t posted as scheduled.
As I mentioned in my post on the bear bile trade, (click here to read it) I visited the Atlanta Zoo fairly recently. I loved seeing the animals, although I was sad they weren’t in the wild where they belong. Thankfully, the zoo had many plaques and things about conservation and how to help wild animals, and I’m glad they’re using their influence to do good. Overall I would recommend visiting if you’re ever in Atlanta, because there’s something about seeing the animals in person that makes you care more about the threats they face.
One of my favorite things to see at the zoo is the “Scaly Slimy Spectacular.” As lame as the overabundance of alliteration is, it is truly fascinating seeing how many unique species there are. I also love the big cats- clouded leopards, tigers, and lions (and bears- oh my!) It still amazes me just how creative our God is, and the zoo is only the land animals!
Now, I can’t write a post on the first day of 2019 without a little nod to 2018. Thank you so much to all of my followers and visitors, you guys are a great motivation to continue writing! I’m so happy that my research is reaching people, and I hope my blog continues to grow! This has been a wonderful year of learning for me- my freshman year of high school, lots of travel, and pursuing my passions. I have learned much about animals and how I want them to thrive in the wild, which is why I care so much about conservation. Remember to reuse and recycle!
