More Things to do With Plastic Straws

Plastic straws are terrible for the planet (see my post on the topic here), so I’m writing this mini series to give you inspiration on how to put your straws to use after changing to sustainable alternatives. I hope you enjoy this article, and without further ado, let’s get creative!

If you’ve spend hours gashing the leaves from strawberries as you process them, I have a solution! Use a straw to push the stem out cleanly and efficiently like in the picture above. This can work for hulling cherries too!

These vibrant flower strands make a beautiful baby mobile, curtain, or doorway decoration. Just cut off the bendy section of the straw, thread some string through the straight part of the straws and alternate stringing straw and flower. Tie it off when you’ve reached a length you like, and there you go! There are many variations you can choose of this base design:

Another thing you can do with your straws is keep jewelry from getting tangled! This is great for travel, jewelry boxes, or just any organization you need done. Simply thread the chain through a straw and you’re done!

One handy thing to do with straws is make a razor cover. Simply cut the straw lengthwise and slide it over the blades so you won’t cut yourself on it while you’re not using it.
